Who's behind this content

ExamReady CNA is built by a small editorial team with deep experience in nursing education, CNA training programs, and healthcare staffing. Our content team includes contributors who have worked as:

  • CNA program instructors at community colleges and vocational schools across the US
  • Registered nurses with clinical experience in long-term care and acute care settings
  • Test-prep content developers who have authored NCLEX and other healthcare certification study materials

We are not a hospital system or a credentialing body. We're a small EdTech team that builds study tools for nurse aide candidates. Our editorial standards reflect that scope: we cite vendor official sources for facts, we say when we don't know, and we update content when vendors change their exams.

What "medically reviewed" means on our pages

Several of our pages display a "Medically reviewed by" footer. That phrase means: a registered nurse on our team has reviewed the content for clinical accuracy against standard CNA curriculum and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) test plan. It does NOT mean:

  • The content constitutes medical or nursing advice for any individual
  • The content substitutes for your state's CNA training program
  • The content is endorsed by NCSBN or any of the exam vendors (NNAAP, Prometric, Headmaster, Credentia, PHD, Excel)
  • The content is current after the date shown in the page footer — vendor rules change, and we update when we know

Treat this site as a study aid, not a clinical reference. For nursing practice questions, consult your state's board of nursing, your training program instructor, and the vendor's official candidate handbook.

How we source and verify information

Every fact on our exam-type, state-guide, and study-guide pages traces back to one of these primary sources, in order of preference:

  1. Vendor candidate handbooks from Credentia.com, Prometric.com, hdmaster.com, phdtesting.com, exceltestingsystems.com — these are the canonical sources for exam format, content, scoring, and retake policies
  2. State board of nursing websites for state-specific training hour requirements, fees, and regulatory details
  3. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) for the NNAAP content blueprint
  4. CDC and CMS for clinical practice standards (hand hygiene, infection control, vital signs norms)

When vendor websites disagree (e.g., different exam fees across states using the same vendor), we trust the state board of nursing over the vendor's general pricing page. When we can't verify a fact, we leave it out instead of guessing.

Content updates follow a simple rule: if a vendor changes something that affects exam-takers (fee, format, content areas), we update within 30 days of the change becoming public. The "Last updated" date at the bottom of every page tells you when we last reviewed that page.

How we keep content current

CNA exam rules are mostly stable year-to-year, but they do change — new states adopting different vendors, fee updates, format changes. Our process for keeping content current:

  • Quarterly review of every exam-type and state-guide page against the current vendor candidate handbook
  • User-submitted corrections via the "report an error" link at the bottom of every page
  • Continuous monitoring of vendor press releases and state board notifications
  • Last-updated dates on every page footer so you know when the page was last reviewed
